Michele Costa begins her third season with the Northeastern State

American University in Rapid City, South Dakota where she was a four-year
collegiate player for their nation-rally ranked soccer program. During
her stint at NAU, Costa was a member of both the All-Region and All-Section
team's four consecutive years. As a sophomore, Costa received the
honor of being named the team's Most Valuable Player and was placed
on the All-Tournament team during the NAIA National tournament which
she and her teammates competed in for three straight seasons. While
in her junior year, Costa was named Region IV's Most Valuable Player
as well as being named an All-American. Graduate Assistant Carol Melo
who was a former teammate at NAU, helped motivate Costa to become
a member of the NSU staff. "Carol was very encouraging. She told me
how great the program's at Northeastern where and it really made me
want to be a part of these team's," said Costa. The Brazilian native
began her career well before being a part of both the NSU and NAU
soccer programs. Costa played semi-professional soccer for Saad and
Sao Paulo Soccer Clubs in 1996 and 1997. She was also a member of
the Brazil National Team in 1996. "Michele is so knowledgeable about
the game. It is so nice to have two graduates assistant's that are
extremely intelligent in the game of soccer and can contribute to
both the men's and women's programs," said head coach Charlie Mitchell.
Costa received an Associate of Science degree in General Studies,
and received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration

Costa carried a 3.30 grade point average during her four years at
NAU and was consistently named to the Dean's Honor list. She was named
Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities at
NAU as well. She is currently working towards a Master's of Business
Administration. Costa is working with both the men and women's programs
